I went a trip into Glasgow today with my family.
It's weird, since my dad is home from his job abroad I've noticed that there is an almost stark difference of the way we live in each of our parent's homes. They like us to think that each house is 'our house' but it really isn't, to be honest we're really just torn between the two. Admittedly this is no where near as stressful as when we were younger. Six years on we've learned to deal with packing up a holdall to go between each house.
When we're at my mum's house, we usually just kinda don't do much. I don't mean that as in we don't help around the house (we do that in both*), what I mean is that we don't go to the movies or for walks. Or even go out for a meal once a month. It saddens me really.
I think that it makes my mum sad knowing that we do all this other stuff at my dad's like go abroad for a holiday, go to the movies, go camping and go out for meals.
I truly think she wants to do all this stuff with us but she just can't.
*Elliot, my brother does a hell of a lot more round the house here at my dad's. It's because my mum treats him like a baby 'cause he's the youngest and also because he's a daddy's boy.
ANYWAY
Back to what I stared writing this post about.
So we went in to Glasgow today for a day trip, it was originally going to be a day where I went with my friend to an interview she had with someone in my class. He is writing a feature about discrimination in the work place against individuals who have a mental illness and how mental illnesses in general are a huge far elephant in the room. She was happy enough to do it as a person with anxiety and depression.
The guy in my class cancelled last minute which was a bummer because I was actually kinda looking forward to doing the whole thing.
We ended up (my family and I) going into Glasgow anyway, which in my opinion turned out to be a pretty good day. The weather was good for once, touching just around 14 degrees Celsius (this is like summer to us Scottish folk.) People where everywhere and all the street acts were out.
I won't bore you (whoever you may be, person looking at a screen) with all the little details but basically I bought a new book and I found out about a thing going on at a book shop that I can't wait to go to.
So that concludes my higglety-pigglety entry for today.
